Resorte:
Sonic Renewal and Unbreakable Persistence!"
In the turbulent and vibrant Mexican rock scene in the 90's, Resorte emerged with a unique sound in Mexico at that time that fused rap with metal and lyrics with a keen social conscience. Founded in 1995 in bustling Mexico City by Tavo Limongi (Guitar and Vocals), Juan Chávez (Bass and Vocals) and Carlos Sánchez (Drums), the band quickly gained attention thanks to the independent video for their anthem "América." This initial impact opened the doors to MTV programming and other channels, catapulting them to local festivals and the effervescent Mexican rock circuit.
The milestone that marked their entry onto the international scene was their debut album, "República de Ciegos" (Polygram, 1997), produced by Vernon Reid of Living Colour. This work not only stood out for its distinctive sound but also for its powerful social discourse, consolidating Resorte as references of the genre in Spanish and taking them to tour the most prominent cities in Latin America.
The following albums, "XL" (Universal, 1999) and "Rebota" (WEA, 2002), both produced by Jason Roberts (Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Control Machete, Plastilina Mosh) in Los Angeles, California, sealed the reputation de Primavera as pioneers of the genre. Singles like "Puro Rock", "Caliente", "Aqui no es Donde", "Alcohol" and "Rebota" became anthems, placing them as openers for rock giants such as Green Day, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica on three occasions.
Despite fluctuations in their lineup, Resorte has maintained their sound and identifying essence. 2020 marked a tragic chapter with the loss of one of its founders, Tavo Limongi, leaving a void that resonated in the hearts of both fans and colleagues. However, flame remains lit.
In an act of reinventing and resisting, the band decides to release a new LP more than two decades after their last material. "Zombie Republic" is the title of this sound renaissance, produced by José Macario (Acadia Libre, Parazit and Ladrones), who joins as guitarist and composer alongside Juan y Queso. The album, made up of 12 songs, has released six singles, "Modo Bestia" being the most recent, accompanied by a shocking video.
Despite the challenges and changes, the essence of Resorte endures with a lineup that includes Juan on bass and vocals, Andrei Pulver (Lack of Remorse) on vocals, Queso on bass, José Macario on guitar, Choper ( Todos los Muertos) on guitar and Omar Avley on drums.
Resorte, more than a band, stands as a resilient icon of rock in Spanish, demonstrating that passion and creative force can overcome even the most difficult tests. Their legacy continues, and the first half of 2024 promises to reveal the remaining pieces of this new stage of the band that refuses to be silenced.
